There are two key factors in building a community - getting them through the door and then keeping them there. YOU has always been pretty good about the second one, but has often relied on the success of Sunday service for the first. This course addresses how to get new teens in the door in a post-covid world. How to Grow Your YOU Chapter is a six week, online course customized to help those who register learn marketing tools and develop a growth plan for their chapter. Sign up as a group or as a solo representative to understand how to get your YOU chapter’s information out into the local community and get new teens in the door, with or without assistance from your Unity’s marketing leaders.
In This Course, You will:
- Research free community resources for promotion
- Learn the basics of Google, website, and social media optimization
- Understand when, how, and where to use print materials
- Create simple outreach opportunities
- Develop a Growth Strategic Plan with clear action items
- Explore the many free and non-profit eligible resources available to work smarter, not harder
Who Can Join?
This course is primarily focused on current YOUers and Sponsors actively attending a Unity Church/Center. However, it is also open to parents of current YOUers and YOU alumni wanting to support a pre-existing chapter, as well as youth directors, spiritual leaders, LUTs, board members, and staff who are interested in promoting growth for their pre-existing YOU chapter. Please note, this is not a how to start a YOU group course. Chapters should have at least one dedicated adult sponsor and one high school aged teen in their chapter, and already have an understanding of what YOU is, even if they are not actively meeting right now.
This course is free for current YOUers & current YOU Sponsors.
All other participants are encouraged to make a suggested love offering of $30 upon registering. This love offering will be split between the facilitator and Unity in Greensboro Youth.
This course meets Thursdays 10:30 AM -12:30 PM Eastern on Zoom starting June 16, 2022 and ending July 21, 2022.
It will be offered again at an evening time once school resumes this fall.
