Roots & Shoots is an international program founded by Jane Goodall with a mission to empower young people to affect positive change in their communities. Unity in Greensboro Youth is hosting a ten week Summer Roots & Shoots Club for rising and current high school students interested in making a difference through service and activism. Each week, participants will meet from 1:30 - 3 pm on Tuesdays to research, plan, and implement a community project of their choosing. An additional off campus date may be necessary depending on the chosen project. Club dates will run from June 14th through August 16th.
There is no cost for this program, but teens are asked to commit to the duration of the program (excluding extenuating circumstances). New teens are able to join through the first four weeks. Time put into this program can be used towards service hours needed for other organizations. Participants will be asked to register for free on the Roots & Shoots website.
The UIG Youth Roots & Shoots Club is hosted by Unity in Greensboro Youth as an outreach program to the larger community.
